Kattivik Bible Camp

Where we can meet God, others, and ourselves in the Arctic.

We design our camp structure around S.P.E.C.S.

Kattivik aims to teach the youth to form healthy habits around the Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, Cultural, and Social aspects of the campers’ lives. We hope that as they go back to their villages, they will bring home what they learned at camp in order to live in freedom through Jesus Christ from mental health struggles, addictions, and tough family situations. We want generational trauma to stop with each student that attends, changing families and villages from the inside out.

Kattivik holds three one-week camps, located near Kotzebue, Alaska and serving the youth from the 11 surrounding villages. We are a program under the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of Changepoint Alaska, and founded and led by the Iñupiaq Pastor of ChangePoint Kotzebue, Lance Kramer. The goal of our camps is to teach the younger generations how to lead healthy and holistic lives through a strong authentic relationship with God, connecting to their culture, and finding support from peers and mentors.

“Before I started to find God I always felt alone no matter who I was with or where I was. I also felt like no one actually liked being around me, now I know that I’m never alone and people enjoy being around me. God has shown me He created me the way I’m supposed to be. He has changed how I see myself, others, and my surroundings.”

“I'm seeing a lot of the kids become free from many strongholds, and I feel like Kattivik is raising up young leaders in their villages. I saw a lot of student leaders really step out and become true leaders at the camp. People should support Kattivik because eternities are truly being changed at this camp. They are exposing kids to the gospel of Jesus and raising leaders to go share Jesus with their own villages.”

“Kattivik Bible camp provides a safe space for people to deepen their faith, connect with others, and experience the joy of worshiping together. Plus, it helps individuals develop a stronger understanding of their beliefs and values, which can have a lasting positive impact on their lives. Some people might not have this support at their village but Kattivik does! Supporting Kattivik is one of the best things you can ever do.”

“I think Kattivik is improving the lives of Iñupiaq youth. My life is an example of that! Before I was living in dark and without purpose. Now I am living in so much joy and peace. This camp is planting seeds of a hopeful future. People should support Kattivik because it is planting seeds in youth's lives where their lives are completely changed afterwards.”

“Coming to camp, I had little to no knowledge of Alaskan Native culture. I got to learn so many amazing things about native Alaskan culture, and it was one of the biggest reasons that made camp so much fun. I really loved getting to do the Iñupiaq lessons because it allowed me to see the kids talk about their Iñupiaq names, their meanings, and why they were given them. It was cool to see the kids get to remember why they were given those names and the importance behind them.”

“God is in control. I can go and be his hands and feet and plant the seed but ultimately he is the one growing the seed. Watching God growing the seeds he planted compared to the two years ago I went to one of the villages was truly amazing. Surrender to God and let him do the rest!”

“I didn't know what I was doing with my life. I knew God, but I didn't encounter the depths of His love for me yet. I closed off all of my feelings, I never talked about them even with my closest friends. I felt numb because I wasn't able to feel emotions. At camp, God was moving so much in my heart. God brought up emotions, memories, and feelings that I had as a kid and I was crying so hard. I never cried like that, especially in front of people. There I had encountered God and opened up for the first time to other people. Since then, I have been completely sold out for God. In my life now, I am living in so much freedom and there is nothing to be ashamed about. My life is completely changed!”

“Before Bible camp I didn’t really know what it meant to fully give yourself to God & allow Him to fully change you into the person he wants you to be. I was so stuck into the world, I didn’t know I had a purpose. I was not a great person before fully giving myself to the Lord. I am not proud of that, but what I am proud of is that I allowed God to change me into the person I am meant to be. The 2024 Bible camp really open up my heart and I felt so much joy. At the Bible camp I experienced a deep sense of peace & purpose. I am so grateful Lance & Corina held the Bible camp for years & years. Because of their obedience and dedication, they touched countless lives and brought many closer to God.”

“My favorite memory of the campers engaging with their culture was during the Inupiaq language class where the students shared which words they knew in their language. Some of them tried to get us non Natives to say a word that had a silly meaning, but that just gave me an opportunity to learn more about their culture of joking.”

“I strongly believe that Kattivik is improving the lives of Iñupiaq youth. Through this camp there have been so many kids who have gave their life to Christ and get to share the good news to others in their village. Camp is always a place where they get to connect and be vulnerable with each other. New friendships are always made that will last forever.”

    “It was profound!

I felt a calling from the Holy Spirit to serve at the camp in any capacity needed, but honestly thought I had nothing to offer the youth. Being reminded of Moses’s 40 year in the deserts of Midian, slow of speech, and feeling he had nothing to offer, and seeing what he went on to accomplish… I took the plunge and headed to Kattivik, not knowing a person there.

Man, was God right! I quickly integrated with the staff and youth, never a dull moment, always something to be done, and discovering in the process I did have offer the youth in the service of God! The entire experience was transformative in my walk and relationship with Christ!”

“Kattivik Bible camp can make you feel proud to be Iñupiaq by celebrating and preserving our cultural heritage. At camp, you can engage in traditional dancing, learn the Iñupiaq language, and connect with other friends who share your background. Even though I was shy to Eskimo dance, it was still awesome to see other kids engage in that!”

Being a light and spreading the gospel is what we are called to do as Christians. These kids are hungry for Jesus and need us to share the word with them. Surrender all whatever it is that’s stopping you. Let go and watch God show up in ways you never have seen before!”

“Something that I thought was cool, was there would be times that the Holy Spirit was speaking. God was telling me exactly what I needed to hear through someone. I have been learning how to use my voice and realize how powerful it is through prayer. I have been attacked for so long believing that noboyd wants to hear what I want to say and that I can't be a leader. Now I am realizing that I have so much to say that is way more powerful than the enemy. I am still learning how to use my voice, I am finding peace when I am starting to share what God has on my heart. I used to have dreams of empty stadiums, but I got a vision that it was filled and overflowing and praising God. Ever since camp, God has been moving so much in my life. I am walking in so much freedom and joy ever since camp. I was living in misery feeling alone and unworthy. Since camp I have been walking in so much peace.”

“Some things I realized after attending Kattivik is how the Lord changed me completely! I am so amazed by the Lord, he can do anything you ask for if you have Faith even as small as a mustard seed. Being around sisters & brothers in Christ was really awesome because in Noatak we don’t have that. My Faith grew stronger as I was attending Bible camp, & the counselors helped me be more open to others & share what was on my heart. I am still so shy talking in front of others but the Lord is helping me through that, and the people at Bible camp helped me a lot. Their support did not go unnoticed.”

“It's giving them a safe place to hear the Best News ever, the Gospel, God's Word, and it's giving them an opportunity to meet new friends, and giving them a break from everyday life, especially if everyday life is tough for them. I believe Kattivik is showing the students hope for their lives and encouraging them that they matter on this earth and there is purpose for their lives. People should support Kattivik because it touches the hearts of students. Students learn that someone cares about their well-being and they get opportunities to feel seen and known at camp.”

The ones I didn’t know I got to know better as well and share Jesus with them. I got a lot of the girls numbers and am continuing to encourage them. They continue to update me about their lives and ask for prayer. The same goes with all the other counselors, not a kid was missed or left out. Each and everyone has the love and support from us , I have seen the growth over the past two years and am excited what Kattivik will continue to do!”

Also I think the leadership week for the highschoolers, and having them help lead the high school and middle school weeks, I think that is going to be so beneficial and even life changing! I know I was able to pray with the high schooler student coleader in my tent and see her hear God's voice towards her as she prayed too and we were able to see how God has good plans for her life as a leader!”

“Some of the kids arrived at camp carrying the burden of life and broken families on their shoulders. Those who accepted Christ had very real attitude and countenance changes and left camp with joy in their hearts instead of pain. They were looking at life through God's lens of hope and joy and his constant presence with them in all that they do. They were singing loudly with joy to their Lord and it was amazing to see and hear.”
